How about a weekend getaway? The migrant songbirds are leaving us, but if we race down to the Massachusetts coast, south of Boston, we should be able to catch a big wave of them passing by. Warblers, shorebirds, raptors, ducks...take your pick! Harriers officer Alan Chretien will help show us around some great birding spots unlike anything New Hampshire has to offer, right in his own backyard, including the famous Gooseberry Neck migrant trap, where songbirds stop to feed before venturing out over open water. Come for Saturday or Sunday--or both, and spend the night! Camping and other accommodations available near Horseneck Beach in Westport: the local Hampton Inn is even offering special rates for birders! Our visit coincides with the annual SouthCoast Birding Festival. Click here to read more about what the fuss is all about.
Since overnight trips can take a bit of planning, please do email us at firstname.lastname@example.org if you and your family are interested in attending, or if you have questions about logistics. Carpooling from various points in New Hampshire may be available. This should be a very exciting, very birdy couple of days!
