The Eastern Bluebird, one of our most beautiful thrushes, is also one of our pickiest nesters. He would like a hollow tree, but the hollow can't be too big or too small, the entrance can't be too wide or too narrow, and it has to be just the right height off the ground. Talk about choosy! Luckily, we can help give a few pairs of bluebirds a perfect home. Come learn how to build and erect a nest-box! All participants will get to make their own and all the necessary wood and tools will be provided. Thanks to New England Forest Products for their sponsorship of this event.
The morning will have three parts: first, a walk in search of birds (and sculptures!) around the Andres Institute of Art. We'll meet at the main parking lot (see map) at 8:30 a.m. We'll adjourn at 10 for our nestbox-building session, and at 11:30 we'll take a short jaunt to the nearby Beaver Brook Association.
