New Hampshire's Great Bay will be the site of the upcoming field trip on November 9. Nowhere in the state can wintering waterfowl be found in such great numbers: Black Duck, Ruddy Duck, Bufflehead, Widgeon, Goldeneye...20 species, all told, use the waters of the Great Bay. We'll look for some late-migrating waders and shorebirds in the flats and saltmarshes along the shore, and the wintering Bald Eagle population should be gathering in strength already. To add to the excitement, the Harriers will be joined by a contingent from another Club, the Mass Audubon Young Birders, the first-ever meeting between these two powerhouses! (No competition, just the opportunity for some new camaraderie.) We'll meet at 10:15 at the Seacoast Science Center in Rye. (570 Ocean Blvd., Rye, NH.)
